Our Client is a General Contractor specialising in Interior Fit-Out – shell and core build, with an emphasis on Retail, Commercial, Resi, Interiors, Corporate ( White Box) Hospitality, Arts, Entertainment and Educational to name a few focusing on renovations to ground-up construction as Construction Manager, General Contractor, or Design-Builder.

They manage the process from the early conceptual stages right through. They provide post construction service and handle scheduling requirements from the beginning of a project, enabling them to flag long lead time items or the need to involve specialised consultants.

THE PERSON

The successful candidate will have experience as a Senior Estimator with a North American General Contractor or CM

THE ROLE

Senior Estimator Duties:

    • The Senior Estimator coordinates all aspects of estimating projects throughout the NYC State.
    • The Senior Estimator will supervise the work of the Estimating Department as a whole
    • The Senior Estimator is the primary member of the estimating team who has overall responsibility for the creation of budgets and estimates

Senior Estimator New York

    • The Senior Estimator is responsible for the oversight of the estimating process for all projects bid and awarded, and will establish standardized procedures, methods and processes for estimating and training estimating resources in the use of the same.
    • The Senior Estimator will oversee analysis of past performance on projects and establish estimating standards for all future estimates based on such analysis, and assist in oversight of the historical cost database and bid management and estimating software.
    • The Senior Estimator Manages and coordinates the people, software and other resources used to perform the estimating functions.
    • A Senior Estimator serves a vital function in the growth of a construction company. The Senior Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the total costs associated with a project. They review subcontractor bids in order to choose the most cost effective option. Senior Estimator is a challenging position that requires fine attention to detail.

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure, especially when facing bid deadlines.

Senior Estimator Responsibilities:

    • Prepare detailed conceptual budgets from pre-construction, concept design, schematic design and design development documents
    • Perform detailed take-offs of all trades
    • Initiate and manage entire bid process (CM and GC) inclusive of preparation of detailed bid packages and assure accurate and proper submissions/proposals by all subcontractors
    • Accurately level all subcontractor bids with project team
    • Maintain vendor relationships
    • Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients and subcontractors
    • Interfacing with field team by communicating deliverable and procurement schedules

Educational and Professional Qualifications:

    • College educated
    • Ten years minimum experience in budgeting/estimating ground-up and large scale renovation of residential, hospitality, Commercial, Interiors
    • Knowledge of GMP style estimating and levelling process
    • Must be able to efficiently multi-task
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and meet them
    • Demonstrate proficiency in reading commercial construction plans and specifications
    • Ability to value engineer
    • Knowledge of New York City subcontractor base and market pricing, union and non-union preferably

Computer Systems:

    • Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, On-Screen Takeoff (preferred but not required)
